Sophomore Caden Hightower leads the pack. The veteran runner aspires to earn a track scholarship to Presbyterian College.
Under the leadership of Coach Brown, the CLA track team is off to a great start. Brown, a veteran coach of multiple sports, had one main goal for the season: growth. “My goal for this season is to increase our number of athletes, which we have already done," said Brown. Returning runner, Caden Hightower looks forward to the opportunities that being on the track team will provide him. Hightower, who also runs cross country and aspires to compete at the university is focused on the next level. “I joined because I want to get a scholarship” said HIghtower. Another member of the track team is Kaylee Brown, who is also looking forward to gaining experience on the track. “The most enjoyable part about running track is the track meets and seeing how fast everybody else runs,” said Brown. In addition to increasing participation, Coach Brown wants to line each athlete up with the right event. “I would like to find an event that suits each athlete, said Brown.” The team will compete at St. James High each Wednesday afternoon for the next three weeks. |
